We've recently discovered the insanely great e-mail subscription service MailChimp. Located in Atlanta, they seem light-years ahead of the other e-mail subscription programs we've used. There was a Joomla module that allowed visitors to a website to sign up for a mailing list powered by MailChimp, but there were several problems with it: it wasn't Joomla 1.5 native and there was a security hole in it. Greetbox PDF Print E-mail
This module/component/plugin lets you specify a greeting based on the website from which the visitor arrived at your page. It uses the 'referrer' field in the http header. On the admin side, you set up default greeting (if desired) and a greeting for each url you're interested in. On the front side, the greeting can either be displayed in a module or in a content item by means of the plug-in. So, here's the component, the module and the plugin. All are Joomla 1.5 native.
 


A Note About MailChimp Module Configuration

When configuring your MailChimp module, you will be asked for a MailChimp list ID. The correct ID (yes, for some odd reason, MailChimp has 2 different IDs), look for the 'id=' in the url of your browser when you're editing the list. This is the proper ID. If you do this you will find that it works just fine with multiple lists. Do NOT use the ID from the html form mailchimp generates to manage your list. If you enter an invalid id, the module will default to the first list.

How do I get started with MailChimp?

First, go to www.MailChimp.com and sign up for an account. If your list is small, their accounts are free! After you have created your account, create at least one list and make sure you retrieve the list ID from the address bar of your browser while within a view of that list, as this is what is needed to configure the MailChimp module.

Next, download and install the MailChimp module. Configure the module using the appropriate list ID. It's that simple!

How Do I Resolve the AJAX Error "Error Communicating with the Server"

Sounds like the mailchimp module cannot make a network connection to the server at MailChimp.com. Please check your firewall setting to make sure your server is allowed to make outbound connections.
 
Is there a MailChimp Module for Joomla 1.0.x?

Sorry, mod_mailchimp2 started life as a joomla 1.5 module, and I don't think there's enough demand to back-port it to joomla 1.0, especially as joomla 1.0 has passed end-of-life.
